Do you ever see weird things happening in your PDF files for example are there sometimes white lines that show up in the PDF and you're not sure if they're actually gonna print or maybe you have sometimes these really like blocky letters that show up that just kind of really annoyed both you and your clients when you're trying to review any artwork let me show you actually I had to solve those problems let me explain to you why they happen and then how to address those problems I'm gonna start out creating some artwork inside of Illustrator and then we'll view them inside of Acrobat so I'm here on side of illustrator CC I'm just gonna create a brand new document print based document and I'm gonna start by typing in just some basic letters here let's type in hello there why not let's make a little bit bigger so we don't go blind seeing it I don't wanna make it so big because I want you be able to see the point that I'm making here and I'm gonna set the typeface here to health Attica I'll explain to you why I'm using how vatika right now because I want to make sure that we're using a typeface that has a very certain type of letter form so now I have the word hello here hello there and I'm just gonna option drag to make a copy of it here and this version I'm going to turn into outlines command shift o or ctrl shift ctrl shift o so now basically the exact same text but this is actually text and this has been converted to path outlines now they look pretty similar here inside of illustrator I'm not gonna choose file save and let's go ahead now and call this one test I'm gonna save it as a PDF document save it to my desktop here I'm gonna choose a preset here let's say PDF x1a and I'm going to choose to view the PDF after saving and choose save PDF so now when I look at this you can see that at certain zoom levels inside of Acrobat you see how the ELLs in the version of hello there at the bottom are bold but that does not appear here at the top settings here so remember this set of hello there is actual text this has been converted to path so you can see that the ELLs start to turn into like these big fat rectangles and the problem only gets worse when I assume out and if you're you know creating a PDF document that has a lot of text inside of it no matter what typeface you're using if you have a letter that has kind of just like a basic rectangle shaped like the letter L this could happen with a lowercase I for example you'll see they turn into these big bold blocky letters and when ...
