What innocent-seeming picture is actually heartbreaking?

Horrible and parents are two words that never go well together. You see this boy here? Do you see this family? You probably heard of them. The boy pictured above is A.J Freund. An innocent and adorable 5-year-old boy with a beaming smile across his face. The two other people are his parents, JoAnn Cunningham and Andrew Freund. It appears A.J is living with his happy family, right? Well
 I wouldn’t be so sure about that. On April 17, 2019, A.J’s father reported him missing. A canine dog was sent to find the boy. His body was soon found in a shallow grave nearby and both parents were charged with murder. The father is still awaiting trial, and the mother, sentenced to just 35 years in prison. Prosecutors say that before A.J’s death, he was forced to take a 20-minute long cold shower and was beaten to death by a showerhead as punishment for soiling himself. Soiling himself. Seriously?! He’s just a 5-year-old boy, what do you expect??? But why do you want them to hurt me? WHY!!?? AJ. So I don’t ever see you again. I just don’t want a family. Why would anyone ever feel so helpless and pained to say that t don’t want a family? If you did see the rest of the video, all of the tears the so-called “mother” shed were all because she got caught for this insufferable act!!! Poor A.J had a whole life ahead of him! Although his lasting smile might never be seen again, it will forever be in our hearts. May you rest in peace A.J Freund. -Estelle
