What are things that medieval and fantasy film armor get consistently wrong?

Yes, of course t do. Along with electricity, engines and other technologies that make life (and death) much easier. Medieval fantasy is a setting where magic, monsters, and many rational humanoid races exist. So it does not have much to do with what actual middle-ages were. The main reason it works is because the middle-ages were technologically limited. A good writer takes internal consistency into account as one of the major factors for a fantasy setting to work. A bad writer takes everything he/she can find to make profit and throws it in the cauldron. Thus stories with teenager mages going to school by car can meet with worldwide success (any reference to Harry Potter is purely intentional). Luckily schools are missing from most fantasy settings, because t are what negates adventure even in our world. Why does technology strip fantasy of its charm? Mages and archers have to train very hard before t can effectively deal significant damage from a distance. If there were guns, all their effort would be wasted and by the time magical words and gestures are completed, or an arrow has been cocked, t would have a bullet between their eyes. In a medieval fantasy setting, people commonly use horses to travel and fight. Again, you have to train to be able to ride, and I can tell you it’s not the same as learning to drive a car. Again, in a medieval fantasy setting, a car would be more powerful than most magic artifacts, it would suppress the need to use horses, protecting its passengers way more than any animal mount ever could. If you really want to put some early firearms into your setting, then I suggest you remove magic from it, and switch to a steampunk setting altogether. If you want advanced firearms you better move to modern day fiction, cyberpunk, or science fiction.

White out PDF: All You Need to Know

Well, usually but there might have still been some plates on top of these or even all metal helmets. What is all this to say? Just because you think it is cool doesn't mean it really is. A good example of how a hat can change your perception of a person would be a character who only wears a helmet. People might think he is less intelligent or that he's dumb or something but in actuality he's incredibly strong and capable, and he is a great leader. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. This has some interesting implications. In the end, all those years of research only served to make me appreciate the simplicity of Medieval armor.
